Ororo’s Relationships and the Lack Thereof

The relationships page is a collection of characters Ororo has interacted with in the comics, television series, or the X-Men Movie and explains her relationship with them according to character interactions and observations.

Relationship List: X-Men: Evolution

Evan Daniels, also known as Spyke is Ororo's nephew. She gives him constant advice and watches over him consistently. They have a pretty stable relationship, and as shown on the episode of Spyke's recruiting to the X-Men, they can talk together comfortably. And after the debut of episode "African Storm" the two have grown together even tighter than before, Spyke now taking more responsibility and showing his loyalty and love for Aunty O. The two are now experiencing difficulty conversing with each other. After Evan's mutations began to alter him he became the moody teenager. He is now staying with the Morlocks but has not made this decision final as of yet. Storm of course is heartbroken, but being the strong woman that she is, cannot shed a tear.

During the first and second seasons of X-Men: Evolution it was almost impossible to find Jean and Ororo working together or even talking. But in the 3rd season on "Blind Alley" Ororo and Jean shared a very special conversation. Ororo seems to be the only mother figure Jean can turn to in the X-Men, and girl talk is only beginning between these two.

Kurt Wagner and Ororo have a relationship of friend and teammate. Although, at the beginning she was the one to provide him with his costume and to reassure him that he is capable of accepting himself as a mutant, there is no sign of any further developed relationship.

As being the two young adults in the series, you would think they would have a spark? Well not in this series. Storm and Logan are training partners and work together in alot of things that the Professor asks. It's been well shown that Logan is a pretty lethal foe, but every time he wars in practice against Storm, she easily defeats him. Now we see in "African Storm" he runs into her room to protect her as she screams. Is it merely defensive or something else?

Due to the debut of episode "African Storm" we now begin to see the same mother-daughter relationship betweem Kitty and Ororo. Whilst in the middle of the night Ororo screams and when in a flooded bathroom she sits alone, Kitty comes along, worried half-to-death. Mm... maybe X-Men: Evolution will get better.

Rogue, I believe shares a special bond with Storm in this series. While both of them hold a very dangerous power deep within them, the two have to have the most control and stability amongst all the others. On the first episode that featured Rogue, Rogue absorbed Storm’s abilities. Rogue's plea for relief was "Too Much Power!" concerning Storm's abilities after she absorbed them. Since Rogue absorbed Storm's abilities she also absorbed her memories and thoughts. So, Rogue can pretty much understand Ororo more than anyone else. Also, in the past, Rogue has showed an extreme fear of Storm's presence, but after her joining of the team she seems a little more comfortable around Storm and showed her worry for Storm in “African Storm.”

Ororo and Xavier might have the closest relationship, when considering Storm. It seems as if she were always there with him. On the episode of the Cauldron Part 1, Xavier laid his hand against only Ororo's case and seemed to have more sorrow for her than the other X-Men that were captured because they had won their battles. I'd think there was a father daughter relationship here, but Ororo has so little character build in X-Men: Evolution that Warner Brother's and Marvel's disrespect to her is unthinkable.

As with many of the students, Scott and Ororo are friendly towards one another and act as responsible teammates. Nothing more, perhaps a little less. As Ororo remains the main leader of the field team, she has taken Scott under her wing to teach him how to operate the team. Countless times we have witnessed Ororo saving Scott's life, an obvious way of saying she looks out for him.

X-Men the Movie Relationships

Ororo and Scott have the relationship in the movie of teammates working together on every task that comes ahead. Ororo and Scott supply the most firepower out of all the X-Men in the movie and are the most trained. Although some fan fictions of the movie verse has portrayed a relationship of Scott and Ororo I think it's disrespectful due to Ororo. She deserves better than Scott and Halle Berry -- well I don't want to say anything about James Marsden that wouldn't be appropriate.

Jean and Ororo in this movie have little screen time together in the movie and never has a conversation aroused between the two except when Storm asks, "How could he survive a procedure like that?" So, there is yet to be any relationship established between Jean and Ororo, but maybe in the next movie? Perhaps.

Storm and Rogue in the movie have built some type of relationship of respect between each other. While their true conversation was cut out of the final choosing of the movie, you could've clearly saw that the two had a brief but momentum conversation. And after Rogue drained Wolverine for the first time the look in Rogue's eyes to Storm and Storm's eyes to Rogue showed there was some connection. What does that connection mean? Maybe nothing if the 2nd movie turns out as overestimated than the 1st.

Here the meat gets juicy. Storm and Sabretooth are both on different teams. Sabretooth shows an attraction towards Storm while he seemingly disgusts her. And in the Statue of Liberty when he pushed her hair from her face, it showed he wanted to see her. What does all this mean? Hopefully that Storm and Sabretooth will have some kind of -- relationship and she won't be left to Wolverine whom I personally -- dislike. Any hoot, it could thicken the plot if an X-Person and a Brotherhood member were actually -- 'together'. Then again, I'm neither a writer nor a director.

And finally, the runt. So many rumors and fan fictions about a love of Wolverine and Storm have threatened Ororo's innocence. While many might fine this couple present, I loathe it. Maybe in an alternate reality. But not here, please. While there are many good excuses while they should be together, there is an equal amount of why they shouldn’t. In the movie there has been not a sign of affection between Storm and Wolverine. There was no reaction to his departure from her. Hopefully, it will stay this way.

Relationships List: Animated Series

Cyclops (Scott Summers): The relationship between Scott and Ororo is normal. They share a confidential friendship and share leadership of the X-Men. In the battles Ororo always has Scott's back. Scott, being the moral person that he is, always wants the best for Storm. He worries for her safety and Storm recognizes this with a smile of love.

Wolverine (Logan): Wolverine and Ororo seem to have a friend relationship except for the two-part episodes, "One Man’s Worth". In these episodes they are married. But throughout the series whenever Logan is going into danger Storm always seems to try and stop him from going. Wolverine shows some kind of affection for her when he gets disgusted from the kiss between Ororo and Arkon (Storm Front Part 1).

Rogue: Rogue seems to have one of the closest relationships to Storm. They are always together and whenever one is in trouble the other one is always willing to lose their life. Rogue shows her concern for Storm while she is hospitalized and flies across the ocean to Africa with Storm whom frantically worries for the safety of her ‘son’. Storm and Rogue are “flying buddies” throughout the series and as such a lot of in depth conversations are held between them. We learn a lot about Storm through what she tells Rogue.

Beast (Henry "Hank" McCoy): Ororo has a relationship with Beast that they can talk about their problems. They are always happy to see eachother and Beast's intellectuality helps him to understand what Storm goes through while trying to control her emotions in terms of keeping her powers under control. Beast’s analytical way of taking care of all situations and Storm’s lack of outward emotion results in a very covert relationship between the two.

Gambit (Remy LeBeau): Gambit and Ororo share a relationship of friendship. They both tend to protect each other but their relationship is not as close as it is in the comics. Gambit is too involved and infatuated with Rogue to develop relationships with many characters in the series. However, Storm does say, “Gambit I know you better than anyone else,” in a conversation in front of the rest of the X-Men. The brother-sister relationship is obviously alluded to, but it’s a very esoteric point.

Jubilee (Jubilation Lee): Jubilee's relationship with Storm in the animated series is very close. Storm is overprotective of Jubilee and teaches her various things throughout the series. Whenever Storm is going through something Jubilee always seems to have the words of love and encouragement to help her through her situations. However, along with Jubilee’s youth and immaturity she is constantly rebellious. Storm constantly reprimands her and Jubilee commonly yells at Storm. Jubilee does not see Storm as a threat and even attempts to take her out of flight in “Savage Heart” but Storm quickly teaches her a lesson in gravity. Eventually Jubilee learns who her superior is.

Jean (Jean Grey): Storm and Jean have a friend relationship in the series. They don't seem to be close "sisters" in the series (Rogue took Jean's place). Storm doesn’t seem to be affected as deeply as everyone else by Jean’s “death” after the Phoenix Saga, but shows her mother-like qualities when Jean is found to be alive as she tries to help her friend through her convalescence.

Professor X (Charles Xavier): Storm's relations ship with Xavier seems to be teacher and student. Sometimes Storm is the teacher instead of Xavier. Charles also sees Storm as very compassionate and keeps a close watch over this powerful student. His acceptance to her as one of his more important and special students makes him trust Storm (Episode 4 in the series proves this). Ororo's wisdom sometimes even surpasses Xavier's and makes her worthy in his eyesight to lead the team. But their relationship extends pass this teacher/student thing into a father/daughter love as demonstrated on episode - Graduation Day. The last episode in the series.
